Dental Restorations

Dental Restorations for Kids

The type of dental restorations we use most frequently are tooth-colored fillings and crowns. Both methods can protect and repair your child’s teeth.

Fillings

Fillings are typically used as a remedy for tooth decay. Some children are prone to cavities, which can lead to toothaches and other dental problems. Our pediatric dentists repair your child’s tooth by using a tooth-colored filling to restore the affected area.

Benefits of Restorations

  • Strengthens the affected tooth

  • Restores the effected tooth’s shape, appearance, size and function

  • Allows for proper speech development

  • Improves chewing ability

  • Prevents spread of decay and infection in the mouth

Pediatric Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers and protects a damaged tooth, restoring its strength, shape, and function. When a cavity is too large for a filling or a baby tooth has been severely decayed, cracked, or weakened, a dental crown is often the best way to preserve the tooth and protect your child's smile.

Crown Options for Baby Molars

We offer two types of crowns for primary (baby) molars to meet your child's individual needs:

  • Silver (Stainless Steel) Crowns
Stainless steel crowns are the traditional and most durable option for restoring baby molars. They are highly resistant to wear, provide excellent protection for teeth with extensive decay, and are commonly recommended after pulp therapy (baby root canal treatment).

  • Tooth-Colored (Zirconia) Crowns
Zirconia crowns provide the same reliable protection while blending beautifully with your child's natural teeth. These metal-free crowns are an excellent choice for families looking for a more natural-looking restoration without compromising strength or durability.

  • Benefits of Dental Crowns
Protect and strengthen weakened or damaged teeth
Restore the tooth's natural shape, size, and function
    Improve chewing and biting ability
    Support healthy speech development
Help prevent further decay, fracture, and infection
Preserve baby teeth until they are naturally ready to fall out, maintaining space for the permanent teeth

Our team will discuss the benefits of each crown option and help you choose the restoration that best fits your child's dental needs, oral health, and aesthetic preferences.
